
Meet Mike
Mike H. Smith Mike earned his BA in History from Erskine College in 1993 and his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1996. After starting his legal career in Augusta, he moved to Savannah in 1997 and later co-founded Smith Barid, LLC in 2006, focusing on estate planning, elder law, and special needs planning.
He has received several recognitions, including Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star and “40 Under 40” in Savannah, and was featured as one of America’s Techiest Lawyers by the ABA Journal. Mike is actively involved in numerous legal and community organizations and has held leadership roles, including serving as past president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Outside of work, he’s a nationally licensed soccer coach and an ultramarathoner. He also regularly speaks at legal and community events, educating others on estate planning, elder law, and related topics.
